Financing Home Renovation: New EU Peers Training Supports Advisors and One-Stop Shops
Financing remains one of the biggest barriers to home energy renovation across Europe. While homeowners often understand the benefits of improving their homes, many hesitate because they are unsure how to pay for the work.
To support advisors and One-Stop Shops in overcoming this challenge, EU Peers has published a new online training tool: Train the Trainer – Financing Home Renovation.
Available through the EU Peers platform, the tool has been designed for professionals who advise homeowners on renovation projects. No specialist financial background is required. Instead, the training provides a clear and practical introduction to the financing landscape, helping participants build confidence in discussing renovation costs, funding opportunities and financing solutions.
Five concise modules with practical insights
The training consists of five concise modules, each taking less than 20 minutes to complete. Participants learn:
- Why renovation is fundamentally a financial decision
- How different stakeholders contribute to financing
- How banks assess renovation projects
- How financing packages can be assembled from multiple sources
- How to communicate costs, savings and repayment options effectively
The final module focuses specifically on communication techniques that help homeowners understand costs, savings and repayment options through simple, relatable examples.
Flexible learning with local relevance
A key feature of the training is its interactive online format, which allows Community of Practice members to access learning materials flexibly and revisit content whenever needed.
The tool also incorporates country-specific information, enabling users to better understand local financing schemes and market conditions.
Strengthening renovation support across Europe
By translating complex financing concepts into practical guidance, the training strengthens the capacity of One-Stop Shops and renovation advisors to support homeowners throughout their renovation journey. Ultimately, it helps turn financing from a perceived obstacle into a manageable part of the renovation process.
Explore the training
Members of the EU Peers Community of Practice are invited to explore the new training tool and integrate its insights into their advisory work. By improving knowledge and confidence around renovation finance, the training contributes to one of the Community’s core goals: accelerating high-quality residential energy renovations across Europe.
