Practical mentoring to accelerate sustainable renovation services

Mentoring that delivers impact

Establishing or improving a one-stop shop (OSS) for sustainable home renovation can be quite a complex process - from aligning with EU and national climate goals, to tackling energy poverty, to building trust among homeowners. The EU Peers Mentoring Programme is here to make this journey faster, easier, and more impactful: with the help of experienced European practitioners who provide targeted guidance, tested solutions, and peer-to-peer exchange.

The programme is designed to strengthen local and regional capacities while ensuring that renovation services are effective, accessible, and sustainable.

From Challenges to Solutions in Home Energy Renovation

Across Europe, cities and regions are accelerating their building renovation efforts to meet climate targets. However, many organisations face difficulties, such as:

1. Limited capacity or technical know-how;

2. Challenges in reaching vulnerable groups;

3. Difficulties in creating viable business models;

4. Lack of peer examples or practical tools.

That is where the EU Peers mentoring programme comes in - offering direct, experience-based advice and solutions from professionals who have been there before.

Programme benefits

Tailored guidance: Work directly with mentors, each specialised in an essential area of OSS development.
Practical insights: Insights into green heating, tackling energy poverty, developing community-led renovation models, customer value creation, and more.
Networking: Connect and expand your network of OSS practitioners across Europe to share challenges, solutions, and build future collaborations.
Focused learning format: Gain skills and knowledge during the 4 hours of focused online mentoring.

Meet the experts
  • Nils Daugaard (EC Network, Denmark): Supporting municipalities in setting up OSSs aligned with SECAPs (Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan), with a focus on green heating.
  • João Pedro Gouveia (NOVA University Lisbon, Portugal): Tackling energy poverty with innovative ways to reach vulnerable groups.
  • Máirtín Ó Méalóid (EcoVision/Energy Communities Tipperary Cooperative, Ireland): Managing citizen-led OSSs and community organisations.
