How can renovation policies better reach the people and buildings that need the most support? That will be the central question at the autumn JustReno Townhall Meeting in Budapest, where representatives from Hungary’s Ministry of Energy, municipalities from across the country, researchers, and housing experts come together to discuss the future of socially just building renovation in Hungary. The discussion will focus on the role of the worst performing buildings (WPBs) in Hungary’s upcoming National Building Renovation Plan, but also on a broader challenge: how to ensure that national strategies reflect local realities.
One-stop shops are an important and cost-effective tools for supporting the renovation of the worst-performing buildings. Through such services, local municipalities can actively encourage the renewal of the building stock. The workshop will not only include a presentation on the OSS chapter of the National Building Renovation Plan (NRBP), but also a presentation by Ilona Illésné-Szécsi, project manager of the EU Peers project. She will introduce the concept and benefits of one-stop shop services, explain why establishing an OSS can be advantageous for municipalities, and present how the EU Peers community supports the wider uptake of one-stop shop services, as well as assists individual municipalities in setting them up.
Group discussions will help participants reflect on and further explore the topicscovered in the presentations.
