From Policy to Practice: Co-Creating Solutions for Energy-Poor Households

The interactive workshop aims to foster cooperation between local authorities and One-Stop Shops to support energy poor households through their active involvement in energy communities.

Target groups of the workshop are:

-   Local authorities: they will acquire practical insights both from experts and peers on how European cities and rural towns are supporting energy poor households and energy communities;

-   Energy agencies and one-stop shops: they will acquire practical insights on tools and successful practices on engagement of energy poor households;

-   Energy communities and citizens interested or concerned by energy poverty will gain insights on what kind of support they can receive from the EU, as well as the support they can demand to their local authorities.

The workshop, co-organised by 3 EU initiatives: EU Peers, EU Covenant of Mayors, and CLR, and by the LIFE project BIRTUOSS,  holds the right mix of expertise and stakeholders to ensure that both top-down (from local authority to citizens) and bottom – up approaches are taken into account throughout the event, both by speakers and the interactive exercises. Furthermore, the presence of OSS ensures the perspective of the experts and first-hand players in energy renovation (one-stop shops).

3 interactive sessions are planned, building on one another. The first one aims to set the scene and understand who is in the room and what’s their relation with energy poverty. The second one aims to move from the mapping of participants to the mapping of their common challenges with the identification of common solutions. Finally, in the third interactive session, participants will select key barriers and solutions and develop a mini action plan to bring back to their local authorities/OSS for implementation. Accompanying these interactive sessions, speakers will provide background information to kick-off the work, as well as case studies to inspire the groups.
